


Jill graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 1987. After completing general rotation jobs in Rotherham and Sheffield she worked abroad for a year. Posts abroad included Charge physiotherapist of a private practice in South Africa and Senior therapist in neurology outpatients, in New Zealand.
On return to the UK in 1990 she has specialised in Neurology. Initially working for Sheffield University Hospital acute services. Clinical areas of work included Young disabled unit, Stroke Unit, neuro-medicine, neurosurgery and neurological impaired out patients. Becoming clinical specialist in 1992 responsible for advising/guiding colleagues in the management of patients with complex neurological conditions, one role of which was to develop support, long term services for patients with MS.
In 1994 she became senior 1 Physiotherapist in charge of the therapy team on a 57 bedded stroke unit in Sheffield, during this position she completed Bobath training to an advanced level. In 1997 she became therapy team leader/superintendent in charge of the therapy teams responsible for delivering care to neurology and elderly services at Sheffield Hallam University hospitals.
Following this a second chapter in her carer commenced in 2000 working for community based teams. These have included working for Morecambe Bay PCT, Acquired Brain Injury Team and then Scope, working at Beaumont College for young adults with complex leaning difficulties/neurological conditions.
Since 2005 she has worked for community Children’s services in North Lancs. PCT – working with children with complex neurological conditions, including cerebral palsy: within special school, mainstream school and home situations.
She is highly skilled in overcoming physical and practical challenges and believes in working very closely with individuals presenting with neurological problems and everyone involved in supporting them: in order to find solutions, develop and establish life skills and maximize independence.
She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is registered with the Health Professionals Council.
