Neurocare Staff Profile - Jenny Falconer

Jenny graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University and in 1990 worked in Swaziland for 3 months in a Leonard Cheshire Home.  The work involved assisting physiotherapists with treatments and care for adults and children who attended with a wide range of conditions, including head injury and polio.

Jenny qualified as a physiotherapist in 1995, and has over 13 years experience in neurology. She completed the basic Bobath course in 1999 and has had enjoyed ongoing professional training since then.

She  worked with stroke patients for 9 years as a senior physiotherapist at Royal Preston Hospital gaining experience in elderly day hospital, neurological out patients and the acute stroke wards. She was an integral part of a multidisciplinary team which established an educational 6 week programme for early stroke patients to learn more about their condition which included an exercise and relaxation class. At Preston (which is the regional neurological unit) she gained lots of hands on experience in the rehabilitation of M.S. patients, in the treatment of guillanne barre syndrome, and head injuries.  She has extensive experience with elderly rehabilitation and multipathological clients. She has worked with the falls management programme and the long term care of Parkinsons disease clients.  Since beginning her work with Neurocare in 2008 she has been developing her skills in functional electrical stimulation to further assist her neurological clients.

She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is Registered with the Health Professionals Council.
