Cate graduated from the University of East Anglia in 1997 and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered with the Health Professions Council. She is also a member of the special interest group for physiotherapists working in the neurological field.
She began working within the NHS as a junior physiotherapist in Kent. In 1999 she moved to specialise in neurological physiotherapy, through a series of specialist settings in both Surrey and Oxfordshire from 1999 until 2003. She remained in Oxfordshire working within the specialist neurological rehabilitation unit for a further 3½ years before in 2006 moving to the Manchester area to take up a community neurological rehabilitation post and to begin working in private practice.
To supplement her experience, she has participated in various courses to further her understanding of neurological conditions and the control of normal movement and applying this to treatment. She has specific interests and experience in the management of complex disability and rehabilitation in the community setting and spasticity management.
She uses a patient centred approach in order to work towards patients’ own functional goals. She is also very keen to seek means by which to promote general fitness and optimise health amongst patients with neurological conditions (in order to reduce the risks of secondary complications occurring).
She is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is Registered with the Health Professionals Council.
